What is Yoga Nidrā?
Yoga nidrā, or “yogic sleep”, is both a practice and a state of being. The practice guides the mind and body into a conscious state of deeply restorative rest and relaxation, similar to what we experience when we are asleep. It is during this state of being — this liminal dreamlike space — that we connect deeply to our intuition, our creativity, our wants and desires, and our deep inner wisdom, while allowing the body to relax and rejuvenate on a cellular level.
Practicing yoga nidrā regularly has been reported to improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, restore natural body rhythms, spark creativity, obtain a deeper connection to ourselves, quiet the mind, increase focus, aid in healing, and provide a deep state of rest and relaxation for the mind and body, among other benefits.
